Park

Artem: What's on your mind?

You: Nothing. I was just wondering what that cabin is for.

Artem: I think it's a Western restaurant. We can go there for lunch later.

You: Okay, I want to check out their specialties.

Artem: Here, I've already looked up the information on my phone.

Artem hands you his phone, thoughtfully picking out all the specialties for you to browse.

You: You've already arranged everything?

Artem: Leave these trivial matters to me.

Park

You: The warm breeze by the lake is refreshing.

Artem: Yes.

Artem walks behind you, throwing a thin blanket over your shoulders.

You: Eh!?

Artem: Even if it's refreshing, you'll catch a cold.

You: I... I know.

Park

You: We've been walking for a long time. Want to rest on that long bench?

Artem: Sure, but it might be hot with the sun shining there.

You: Oh, right. Where should we go then?

Artem: Let's rest under a nearby tree. It'll be cooler in the shade.

You: Sure.

Artem leads you to a place away from the sunlight. He takes off his jacket and spreads it carefully on the ground before offering you his hand.

Artem: Here, sit on my jacket. That way, you won't get cold.

You: Okay...

Park

You: I didn't expect to find tree stumps in the park. It looks like they've been here a while.

Artem: I believe they were here even before the park was built.

Artem: Want to count the rings?

You: Eh!?

Artem: Aren't you curious about its age?

You didn't expect Artem to read your mind.

You: But that sounds a little immature...

Artem: Maybe, if you're doing it alone, but that's not the case with two people.

You: !!!

Artem squats down with you and counts the tree rings to determine its age.

The sunlight shines through the mottled shadows of the trees onto you and Artem, almost as if time was marking your bodies.

Park

You: I got to the pavilion first! Whew, it's really hot today.

Artem: Yeah, you win.

Saying so, Artem pulls out a handkerchief and starts wiping the sweat off your hand.

You: I... I can do it myself.

Artem: Did you forget? You peeled fruit just now.

You: Oh... Right. Thank you...

Artem: You're welcome. Rather, I'm very happy to do so.

Park

You: Let's spread out our picnic blanket here.

Artem: All right, I'll spread it out. You can grab the picnic basket.

You: Sure!

Park

Somehow, the two of you arrive at the music fountain in the center of the park.

It's a must-see destination for couples. Upon approaching the fountain, a column of water rises two meters in the air.

Artem: Watch out!

Artem pulls you into his arms, shielding you from the droplets of water.

You: Artem, it's only water. You don't need to be so nervous.

Artem: Sorry, force of habit. Did I hurt you?

You: No, but your clothes got wet.

Artem: Don't worry about it. It'll dry soon.

You: I'll wipe it down for you. That way, it'll dry faster.

Artem: I'll take off my jacket so it's easier to wipe.

Park

You: What a beautiful rainbow!

You: I wasn't expecting to see a rainbow on a day like this.

Artem: Yes, rainbows don't usually appear on days with weather like this, but there it is...

Artem turns to you, smiles faintly, then continues to speak.

Artem: Just like how I was able to meet and fall in love with you. It's rare, and yet it still happened.

You: Artem...

Artem: We should take it as a blessing and engrave it in our hearts.

You: Yeah, let's not waste this opportunity and enjoy the beauty before our eyes.

The sun pierces through the shadows of the trees, falling on the two of you as you lie under the shade. The occasional breeze feels refreshing.

You: Wow, I can feel the built-up fatigue fading from my body.

Artem: Yes, it's quite comfortable.

Hearing Artem saying that, you turn your head slightly to glance at him. You find yourself unable to look away from his tall nose and slightly pursed lips.

At that moment, Artem also turns to lock eyes with you, causing your cheeks to start burning up.

Artem: What is it?

You: Huh? N-Nothing, I was just thinking about how you probably wouldn't have passed time like this in the past.

Artem: Yes... in the past, I would spend my free time in simple ways. I would either go for a drive or watch a movie and review it.

Artem: Spending my free time clearing my mind and enjoying the passage of time, like I'm doing now, was unfamiliar to me.

You: Do you like it?

Artem reaches for your hand with a smile that reached his eyes.

Artem: Yes, it's a new experience for me.

You: Isn't it boring to lie around instead of going for a drive or watching a movie?

Artem: Not at all.

Artem answers without hesitation.

You: Why not?

Artem: The reason why people feel bored is that they lack interest in the people and things around them.

Artem: But with you by my side, even if we don't say a word and quietly hold hands, I never feel bored.

Artem: Being with you is enough, even if we spend the day doing nothing.

You: (Artem...)

You squeeze Artem's hand.

You: Me too. It doesn't matter what we do, as long as I get to be with you.

Artem: But I'm curious. What did you do on your days off in the past?

Stay at home

You: Me? I mostly just stayed at home.

You: Catching up on TV shows, reading, or playing games...

Artem: We can do those things together at home next time.

You: Yeah, sure.

Go out

You: I'd go out, of course.

You: I might go shopping or watch a movie. I don't get time off often, so I don't want to waste it!

Artem: Next time, we'll do those things you said, all right?

You: Yeah, it's a deal.

You and Artem chat with each other, and before you know it, the sun has shifted, blinding you with sunlight.

Perhaps sensing your discomfort, Artem sits up and gently covers your eyes with his hand.

You: Artem?

Artem: The sun shifted. I'm blocking the sunlight for you.

You: ...

Artem's palm is warm and dry, gently blocking out the glaring sunlight by covering your eyes.

Perhaps due to the dimming of the intensity of light or the sense of security brought on by Artem's palm, you are suddenly overcome with drowsiness.

In a daze, you can feel Artem look down and kiss your eyes through his palm.

Artem: Sleep. I'll always be by your side.
