Summary

A trapped man tries to escape an unknown basement and despairs that he doesn't want to die yet.

In an underground bar, an undercover Luke Pearce arrests a pair of customers who are peddling a "miracle cure" of unidentified drugs. The drugs turn out to be generic and low-quality, unlikely to be related to the NXX investigation, and the case is turned over to Stellis police. After the arrest, Aaron Yishmir urges Luke to stop delaying hospitalization for his condition, pointing out the arrest has unusually exhausted Luke and warning that the consequences could be "catastrophic."

At home, the MC watches a news broadcast from earlier in the day after Skye Harper's trial, where she was represented by Artem Wing. Public opinion is against Artem in this case, with reporters swarming the courthouse and property damage committed against Themis Law Firm's vehicles and office premises. At the time of the news broadcast, the two had discussed Artem's motivation for accepting the case and the fact that he has a talisman similar to Gerard Boone's, which was said to be cursed when it was given to Artem for investigation.
