Wayne Hanks (real name Westley Handerson) is a pickup artist mentor from a small city[2] operating in Stellis. He contacts women through social media apps, where he creates profiles for personas tailored to each of his targets, pretending to live a luxurious and thoughtful life hard-won from an extremely difficult background;[3][4] in actual fact, he is a security guard at a pub.[5]
Wayne weaves in elements of poetry and writing backgrounds when appropriate to his target, bringing various sophisticated-looking books to dates and quoting lines and assigning nicknames from literature his targets enjoy. He claims his least favorite book is Love in a Fallen City by Eileen Chang[6]
Despite being one of the few in the group personally taught by founder "You-Know-Who," Wayne's popular PUA instruction streaming platform was against the founder's tight rules.[7] As a result, Wayne was discarded by the PUA group to be the scapegoat of the investigation into its activities. He was charged with fraud and spreading criminal methodology.[5]
After his arrest, Wayne claimed to have been glad he was arrested, stating he had been lying and pretending for so long, he had forgotten who he was. He admitted immediately after saying this, though, that even he couldn't be sure whether he believed these words.[8]
