Sarai Brady is a performer in an award-winning touring musical theater troupe. Her most recent role is that of the Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera, playing rival to Crystal Wu's Christine. Having auditioned for the role of Christine herself, Crystal saw Sarai as a rival and, owing to a deteriorated mental state made worse by an unknown third party, attempted to murder Sarai by arsenic poisoning during the troupe's last tour stop in Stellis. The attempt was unsuccessful, leaving Sarai comatose.[1]

Sarai had discovered the secrets of an international diamond smuggling operation amid the troupe's members; though she promised not to tell anyone what she had seen, the culprit distrusted Sarai's promise and brainwashed Crystal into the murder attempt to protect himself.[2]
