Rio is a businessman from Svart. He accompanied Zallie in The Pluto auction, stating Zallie is his teacher in art appreciation and auction.[1]
When he was young, Rio was a street urchin who was able to escape a trafficker. He was then adopted by Zallie.
Rio is described as a tall, thin man with a ring on his left middle finger. He had a girlfriend named Lynne, who was also a street urchin, that was adopted by Zallie at the same time as him. Lynne wears the same ring on her right middle finger. Rio considers Lynne very important to him, stating they had grown up protecting each other, but she was murdered three months prior to the events of Episode 8: Bloom of Sorrow. Svart P.D. was not able to find any clues on who murdered her as the scene was swept clean.[2]
Story[edit | edit source]
Rio unknowingly was Lowe Lear’s accomplice to kill Zallie.
Rio confronted Zallie after Lowe induced him to do so. Zallie confessed to Rio that it was him who assaulted and brutally murdered Lynne, Rio’s girlfriend. Zallie showed no remorse and mocked Rio and Lynne as no better than inferior pets to whom he could do anything he liked, which enraged Rio. The altercation resulted in Rio slamming Zallie’s head into a painting frame.[3]
Prior to this and due to Lowe switching his "vitamins," Zallie had unknowingly consumed a large dosage of anti-coagulant that impaired his blood clotting function. Therefore, the impact to his head caused Zallie to die of internal bleeding.[4]
After Rio’s confession, Rio slammed his head against the wall and fell into a coma. He was handed over to the police upon the ship's return.[3]Organization(s)[edit | edit source]
