Rin Reiner is a case writer for the pickup artist group Saving Your Romance, whose task was to record the pickup mentors' various conquests. In doing so, she became familiar with the techniques used in their trap.[3]
Under the direction of the members of this group, Rin infiltrated the PUA Victim Support under the name "Sunny Rain," stating she'd discovered her boyfriend was a PUA and that she had become suicidal in order to get in contact with group leader Vera Walton.[4] She claimed to have met Wayne Hanks through a social media app and discovered his second life as a pickup artist after searching his name on the internet at the end of a relationship that perfectly followed the five-step PUA trap.[5]
Rin's true goal is thought to have been to intentionally lead the investigation into the group's activities directly to Wayne.[3]
After meeting and getting to know Vera, Rin was moved by Vera's sincerity and kindness and began opening up about herself: her family needed money, and she couldn't find a job, so she was tricked into joining the PUA group. When she tried to leave, she was threatened by You-Know-Who and coerced into staying and deceiving the investigation into the group.[6] She would later go on to confess all she knew about the group to the police.[7]
