Stellis City Police Department
Police Station
Stellis Justice Dept - Waiting Room.png

You've handed over most of your workload. Find Artem and meet up with everyone else at the police station.

When you and Artem get to the police station, Captain Morgan and the other three members of the NXX are already seated in the office.

You: Marius, can I have a look at Anne Croft's credit card records?

Marius: According to her credit card records, Anne Croft has been to Penny's Comfort Foods regularly every week in the last three years.

You and Marius speak up simultaneously... You immediately stop, not wanting to interrupt Marius.

Marius places his tablet in your hand and taps his finger on the screen to show you the location of the file. Then, he continues to speak.

Marius: The Big Data Lab shows that she dines at Penny's Comfort Foods every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon.

Artem: Every week with no exceptions?

You: Yes, up until last week... However, there are no record of any purchases from her this week.

You add, after checking the file on Marius's tablet.

Luke: That means aside from this week, she has been going to Penny's Comfort Foods nonstop for three years.

Darius Morgan: This behavior seems to be a bit compulsive.

Vyn: Anne Croft must have had some logical reason for doing this.

You: But as far as I know, Penny's Comfort Foods is a very ordinary restaurant. Why does she go there so persistently...?

Luke: I can go ask Mr. Green. I'm sure, as the owner, Mr. Green will remember such a regular customer!

You: I'll go with you. I haven't seen Mr. Green since the last poisoning case.

Artem: Is there anything besides this clue?

Marius: That's all I have for now. I need some time to sort out the data we gathered.

Darius Morgan: My men have partially cracked the data from the black market website, but it's too complicated. We need more time as well.

Darius Morgan: Artem and Vyn, could you two stay here to help the police with the investigation?

Vyn: I am happy to help.

Artem: No problem... [Player], be careful during the investigation.

Luke: I'll keep her safe.

You: Okay. I'll contact you if any problem happens. See you later.

GO with Luke to Penny's Comfort Foods in the Central Business District to find Mr. Vernon Green.

You: Ah, why are there so many people standing in front of Penny's Comfort Foods? Are they... waiting for a table?

Luke: It's probably because everyone is out for the City Anniversary. That's why it's extra busy.

You: I don't think Mr. Green will have time to talk with us for a while...

Luke: How about we talk to the customers first? Maybe some of the other regulars know something.

You: Good idea. I'll ask around!

Everchanging World (2/3)

Mr. Green is busy. Maybe ask the customers if they know anything.

Menu board

Luke: [Player], look... The display board this restaurant put out has Anne Croft's name written on the side!

You: Strange. It's all about discount menus and restaurant information... Why is her name in this corner?

Luke: It's written in marker. The handwriting is totally different from the chalk writing on the display board...

You: Does that mean the name was written by someone else?

Luke: Hmm, let me check out the writing closely... Huh, kid, what are you doing?

Boy: La-la-la, I want to draw a red flower. And a little duck!

You: Hey there, buddy. What's in your hand... Is that paint? Wait, don't mess with it!

Luke: Oh no, the paint has already ruined the board...

[Debate]

Win

Boy: You are such a bully! I'm going to tell mom and dad!

You: *Sigh* Now the writing on the display board is unreadable.

Luke: Forget it. There is nothing we can do about it now. We'll find out more from Mr. Green when we see him...

Lose

Boy: You are bad! Anyone who doesn't let me draw is bad!

You: I didn't mean to stop you from drawing. I just didn't want you to ruin it!

You: (Sigh. Let me think about how I should talk to this kid.)

South pair

Young Diner: Man... We've been standing here for two hours. We should just go to some other restaurant.

Middle-Aged Woman: Just hang on for just a little longer. Their Seafood Tofu Soup is the best! You will regret leaving Stellis if you don't try it.

Young Diner: What the heck!? Look there, isn't that table at the entrance available? Why doesn't the restaurant arrange it for customers?

Middle-Aged Woman: Mr. Green said it's reserved for a special guest. He can't arrange it for anyone else.

Young Diner: Who is it? Some kind of royalty, or some relative of the owner's?

Middle-Aged Woman: I heard it was a young woman. She often comes here to meet her boyfriend or something. I don't exactly know who she is.

Luke: A young woman and her boyfriend... Could it be Anne Croft?

You: It's possible... Let's ask Mr. Green later.

North pair

Male Diner: Baby, Penny's Comfort Foods is super busy today. Why don't we go eat somewhere else?

Female Diner: No, I want to eat here! There is a romantic story about this place.

Male Diner: What is that? I've never heard anything like that.

Female Diner: About three years ago when I was working part-time nearby, I often saw a couple at this restaurant.

Female Diner: That man would wait for his girlfriend outside the restaurant every Wednesday and Saturday with a bouquet of Gladiolus in his hand. I was so jealous!

You: (Every Wednesday and Saturday? This sounds like Anne Croft's routine.)

Male Diner: What a romantic! What happened to them?

Female Diner: I heard that the man had gone abroad on business, but his girlfriend still came to the restaurant like she was accustomed to.

Female Diner: She would sit alone at the old spot, thinking about her boyfriend. She was truly in love.

Female Diner: Since then I made up my mind that... when I have a boyfriend, I will bring him here to eat. I just want to be that sincerely in love.

Male Diner: Baby, I completely understand! I will eat here with you as often as I can.

Luke: Could the girlfriend in this story... be Anne Croft?

You: I think so.

After waiting for a long time, the rush hour has finally passed! Talk to Mr. Green now that he's free.

The rush is finally over. You and Luke walk into the restaurant and see Vernon Green lounging on a couch from a distance.

Observe: Face

You: (Mr. Green seems to be in a much better state than before, but he still looks a little tired...)

You: (Maybe it's because of his age, but I guess it's expected for him to be overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the restaurant if he's by himself.)

You: (Where's Winnie? I thought she's coming in to help out the restaurant. I haven't seen her today...)

Observe: Hand

Luke: It seems like there are still some needle marks on Mr. Green's hands... is he still not feeling well?

You: Mr. Green's heart isn't that healthy, so he might need regular conservative treatment.

You: (But generally speaking, Mr. Green is doing a lot better than before.)

Just as you are thinking about what to say, Vernon Green takes the initiative to come over to you.

Vernon Green: Hey, it's you two! Long time no see.

You: Yes. It's been a long time. How are you doing, Mr. Green?

Vernon Green: Same old, same old... But compared to when I was caught up in that lawsuit, I'm much better.

Vernon Green: Oh, are you two here to eat? What would you like? It's on the house.

Luke: Thanks, that's very generous of you. But we are just here to ask you something.

Vernon Green: Oh, what is it? Can I help you with anything?

Anne Croft

You: Mr. Green, are you familiar with Anne Croft?

Vernon Green: Miss Croft is a regular customer of our restaurant. She used to always come with her boyfriend.

Vernon Green: Every time they came here, they'd be holding hands. They had a good relationship. But unfortunately, around three years ago...

Vernon Green: Her boyfriend suddenly stopped coming one day. It was just her alone, sitting at their old table in a daze.

Luke: Is it that table outside?

Vernon Green: Yes, Miss Croft paid some money to reserve that table, so even if the restaurant was busy I wouldn't let other customers sit there.

Boyfriend

You: Mr. Green, do you know where her boyfriend went?

Vernon Green: I'm not too sure. I've asked her before, but she didn't give an answer...

Vernon Green: Oh, that's right, you guys can ask Winnie. She's closer to Miss Croft. They used to sit together and talk.

The name on the display

Luke: About the sign outside the restaurant... Why is Anne Croft's name on it?

Vernon Green: Her name? Oh, about that... A long time ago, Miss Croft's boyfriend playfully wrote her name on it to cheer her up.

Vernon Green: Her boyfriend accidentally used a permanent marker, so no matter how hard I tried to scrub it off, there're still some traces.

Vernon Green: *Sigh*... Afterward, whenever Miss Croft came by herself, she'd blankly stare at her name on that board...

Vernon Green: After seeing her like that, I thought it'd be insensitive to rub out the name, so I left it there.

You: (It sounds like Anne Croft and her boyfriend really did have a good relationship. But why did her boyfriend... leave her like that?)

Winnie Cooper

You: That's right, today I haven't seen Winnie yet, is she busy?

Vernon Green: That girl... I originally planned for her to manage Penny's Comfort Foods...

Vernon Green: Who knows what she's thinking, but she stubbornly wanted to become a teacher for extracurricular classes. No matter how much I tried to convince her, she refused to come back.

Vernon Green: If my memory serves me right... she should be in Celebration Plaza with some kids she brought for the activities there right now.

Vernon Green: Are you going to find her? If you're going, try to persuade her to come back.

You: Don't worry, Mr. Green. I'll go look for her in Celebration Plaza right now. And I'll be sure to pass on your message to her.

Vernon Green: Great. Thank you so much.
