General[edit | edit source]

Ian Johnson is a researcher for Forestry Testing Labs; he was involved with Jasmine Kenders' case against Heirson Health Products for the pollution of the Opaline River. However, for unknown reasons, he switched his testimony to favor Heirson at the last moment and claimed the report he'd signed off for Jasmine had been falsified, causing Jasmine to lose the trial, which ultimately led to her death when she returned to the village to seek evidence for an appeal.[3]

Ian applied for Stellis University's doctorate program for environmental science, but his application was rejected due to academic dishonesty on account of having written papers for others.[4] His father is ill and undergoing costly treatments, and his mother is pushing him to marry.[5]

Story[edit | edit source]

Ian is arrested for involvement in a hallucinogen manufacturing operation at the start of Episode 5: Sins of Cynicism (Part 2);[6] in fact, he had been manufacturing and dealing hallucinogens since prior to the Kenders case; Ingrid Rosworth caught him and threatened to turn him in if he didn't reverse his testimony in Heirson's favor,[4] after which he destroyed the water samples to avoid his lie being discovered.[7]

Ian broke into Irvin Soong's home to steal the mutated Opaline Fish that Jasmine was going to use in her appeal; he claimed it was because they might fetch a good price,[8] but later admitted he was trying to prevent her appeal to avoid a perjury case against him.[5]

Ian falsely believed that Jasmine was responsible for reporting his plagiarism to Stellis University and shares direct responsibility for her death, having taken his revenge by spiking her water thermos with a hallucinogen that caused her fatal fall down the cliffside after her crash.[9]
