A top psychology expert who turned down all kinds of job invitations and decided to become a psychiatrist in Stellis City. Vyn is able to face anything with ease and skill, giving those around him a sense of peace, resulting in people involuntarily opening their hearts to display their truest self before him. If one's heart has secrets, they will most definitely be discovered by him.[2] As someone who always observed the volatile human emotions from the outside, Vyn never expected himself to become one with the same emotions.[6][7]
Vyn has a very gentle temperament, but he is not what one may imagine as a weak scholar. He is very reliable in critical moments, and with his ability to maintain a perfect disposition, any weakness he might have is unknown. Though he is young, he is a distinguished visiting professor at Stellis University[1][2]. If he cannot be found in the Giannovyn Mental Health Research Center, one may find him at Stellis University[2]. During his spare time, Vyn enjoys gardening, listening to classical music and baking desserts.

Vyn Richter earned his reputation as an expert psychologist/psychiatrist young. He currently holds both a doctorate degree in psychology and pedagogy in the Kingdom of Svart. Additionally, he also holds an international license in clinical psychology and hypnotism. After settling in Stellis City, Vyn has devoted himself to the study of criminal psychology and has published several academic papers. His attractive looks and elegancy in speech have attracted the attention of the media to dig into his past and background, but no definitive information was ever uncovered. In 2028, Vyn Richter and Giann von Hagen co-founded the Giannovyn Mental Health Research Center, where Vyn serves as the chief researcher. | |
Vyn is frequently invited by Stellis University to give guest lectures and public classes, and he joined the staff as a visiting professor in 2030, agreeing to teach an elective course for an entire semester for the first time.[8] He is extremely popular at the university, especially among female students, who have formed a fan club around him;[9] his classes are noted to always be full, even at unpopular lecture times like Saturday mornings,[10] which can see lectures as large as approximately 180 people.[11]
Vyn is sometimes called "Vilhelm" by those who have connections to him from before he moved to Stellis, however he prefers his new name instead.[12][13] He's treated with surprising amounts of respect in certain circles--more so than would seem to befit a psychiatrist, even a famous one.[12][13][14] He alludes to a prior life in high society, spending time at court acquainted with royals[15] and mentioning that that time left him with unpleasant memories of ostentatious displays of wealth and hypocritical kindness on his birthdays.[9]
Identity and Childhood[edit | edit source]
Vyn's father is Eirik Haspran, the current Duke of Haspran, which is the most prominent duchy in Svart and controls the nation's military. Vyn, whose birth name is Vilhelm Richard Albert de Haspran, is the heir to this title,[16] though he states he has no interest in it or in Svart's politics.[17] His mother is Reina Richter, a Stellis citizen who left the family early in Vyn's life. His father was deeply wounded by the breakup and fell into alcoholism, leaving Vyn to raise himself with the help of only house staff and cruel stepmothers who hoped to usurp him as heir with their own children. During his time in Svart's school for nobility, where he was trained in activities such as equestrianism and dinner party etiquette, he was viewed as an outsider, isolated and mistreated by his peers; he continues to have difficulty relating to "normal" school experiences in his adult life.[18]
His father's slow but remarkable recovery from alcoholism with the help of therapy and counseling is the source of Vyn's interest in psychology, and he abandoned his life in Svart in part due to the Church of Svart's ban on nobility studying psychology. Having never been interested in noble titles in the first place, he viewed the ban as an opportunity to leave his life behind.[19]Personality and Interests[edit | edit source]
When asked about potential exhaustion in dealing with extreme causes of disorder and trauma so often, Vyn remarks that he doesn't feel tired because the source of trauma can always be treated, which is something that can't be said for physical injuries; he considers himself fortunate that he's a psychiatrist instead of a surgeon.[10] However, he is sometimes derisive of common human flaws, such as the tendency to prioritize selfish short-sighted personal gain while still rationalizing those same choices as logical and intelligent.[20] He's also extremely critical of flaws and defects in general, viewing objects as losing all value after being damaged and struggling with perfectionist expectations for himself.[21][22]
Vyn's schedule is well-known to be somewhat liberal due to his renown in his field, often not seeing him arrive for work at the Giannovyn Mental Health Research Center until the afternoon.[20] Rather than have a therapist of his own as many other mental health professionals do, Vyn has developed a self-evaluation technique involving the nightly[13] recording of audio diaries, from which he graphs and analyzes emotional indicators for fluctuations.[23]
Vyn believes strongly that overprotective and sheltering behavior toward a person prevents that person from growing to full potential.[24][25] He views the idea of love at first sight as undesirable due to past experiences,[23] but he admits he does believe in it and that he would handle it with restraint and cautious observation of a person's attitudes, views, and reactions to determine true character.[26]
Those who have known Vyn a long time remark that he rarely asks for help, especially for the sake of others, and that it would be "very unfortunate" to be treated as his enemy.[13]
Vyn's hobbies, interests, and skills include:
- Dancing: Dancing was considered "an essential skill" during Vyn's time in Svart, and he was taught many types of dance, including ballroom dancing. He's proficient enough to teach advanced dances like the Viennese Waltz. However, he has few pleasant memories of the skill and strongly dislikes dancing at balls and similar events.[14]
- Equestrianism: Vyn plays polo at a professional level as a forward, and he's highly capable in Dressage as well.[12]
- Food and Drink: He's fond of sweets and capable of producing professional-quality confections such as the Mont Blanc.[23] He's also fond of tea, preferring black tea and aware of detailed nuance such as which type of pot is best for which teas.[21] Vyn is a highly skilled wine taster as well, with his palate said to be one of the strictest in the world.[19]
- Gardening: Vyn has a large garden around his home; some plants known to be grown there include various types of roses, including the "La chance d'amour."[27]
- Language: In addition to the language of Stellis, Vyn speaks and reads French from his childhood overseas.[28]
- Magic: A recent interest since meeting the main character and learning of her fondness for surprises, Vyn is developing his own techniques for magic tricks[13] and learning about spiritism[29] and the occult.[30]
- Music: Vyn enjoys listening to classical music.[26] He's also able to play a variety of instruments and has enough music theory knowledge for composition.[31]
- Survival and combat: Vyn is skilled in outdoor survival and hunting, having participated in annual hunting trips in Svart, specializing in archery.[32] Vyn owns a black collapsible bow which is about the size of a portable umbrella when packed, which he brings to outdoor survival situations.[33] He is also extremely confident in his swordsmanship.[12]

Unlike other young and famous people, Dr. Richter appears to spend a lot of time enjoying life. He takes each day as it comes, calmly and gracefully. Handling hospital work, police consults, and university classes with ease, Dr. Richter's professionalism and efficiency is admirable.[34]
