Field Investigations

Players must conduct field investigations in the form of debates or inquiries in order to find students to evaluate. Investigations may be conducted up to 11 times per day, after which the player will grow fatigued. Only Vyn cards are able to be used in these debates. Each debate costs AP x10. Debates spawn in sets of 3-4, one of which is a student who may be evaluated; after these are cleared, a one-hour timer begins before another set will spawn. This timer may be bypassed using Student Directory.

Vyn: Autism is a type of neurodivergency, and as such children with autism may or may not display some neurodivergent features upon clinical assessment.

Vyn: What makes you believe he may be autistic?

Unwilling to communicate

You: He seems to prefer playing by himself.

You: He also presents his emotions differently, and I'm less experienced at gauging how he's feeling.

Vyn: Hmm, it does sound like you may need to find a more effective way of communicating with him.

Repeated actions

You: He doesn't seem interested in toys or games.

You: He also likes to stare at his toes quite a bit.

Vyn: That might be what we call a restricted, repetitive behavior, which can be an indicator of autism.

Vyn: That said, I can't definitively say without a proper professional consultation.

Vyn: Irrelevant of whether or not he is autistic, I'm sure it would be helpful in the future if you knew more about neurodivergence.

Curable

You: They probably can, right?

You: I really want to do right by this little boy.

Vyn: Then it's good that you have started to learn more now.

Vyn: Education is the number one tool in helping to reduce the stigma around neurodivergence.

Incurable

You: I read that autism isn't something that can be cured...

You: Is there a strong stigma attached to autism?

Vyn: Sadly, yes.

Vyn: It's important to remember that autism is a spectrum, and isn't something to be 'cured.'

Vyn: However, there are some therapies and interventions that can be beneficial.

You: Sounds like you've met quite a few neurodivergent people before.

You: What benefit do these therapies provide?

Vyn: Different therapies suit different people, but benefits can cover areas such as cognitive behavior, joint attention, motor skills, and more.

Intervention methods

You: Really? What kinds of therapies and interventions are there?

You: They really should teach us more about this in school...

Vyn: Of course, therapies are only one part of the approach to autism.

Vyn: It requires the efforts of everyone in society to help reduce the stigma around neurodivergence.

Vyn: Actually, there is an autism advocacy organization in Stellis City. I have worked with them in the past.

Vyn: They provide therapy and intervention support, but also work to increase understanding and reduce stigma surrounding autism.
