Summary
Marius calls for a helicopter to airlift a critical-condition
Bryce Thatcher away from Nosta's Temple of Death. He and the
main character conclude that Bryce has most likely been scammed into believing Nosta holds the secret to immortality, spawning an obsession in him and making him an easy pawn. When Bryce awakens, he raves delusionally, demanding Marius tell him the incantation that appeared on the statue at dawn and insisting that a 100+ year old man from the previous archaeology team (who looks no older than his 30s) told him the secret to immortality had been found on Nosta.
